Townshend Forssman

SOMETHING ABOUT US……………..

History

The company, which started in the 1930's under the guidance of Townshend senior, has survived the Great Depression and World War 2. Activities were mainly in the sale of farms and township development. Old Mr. Townshend gave the reigns over to his son. It was in the late 1950's that Carl Forssman joined what was then known as Townshend Elliot & Co. (Pty) Ltd and by 1961 the company name was changed to Townshend Forssman & Co. (Pty) Ltd. The partnership between these two gentlemen proved to be very successful especially in the industrial and commercial sectors in sales, valuations and township developers.

As time went on, Townshend Jnr., retired and the company was in the sole control of Carl Forssman. By this time a sizeable operation had been built up with offices in both Johannesburg and Pretoria. The company also had agencies for United Building Society.

In 2004 a decision was taken by Neville Forssman to move out of the motor industry and join Carl in the property industry. Neville had been for 23 years, starting off as accountant and was soon running dealerships. This was welcomed by Carl and the idea of re-launching Townshend Forssman C.C was planned.
